In WBUR: 5 things to do this weekend to celebrate Juneteenth

On Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, WBUR highlighted 5 things for local Bostonians to do in celebration of both Juneteenth and Black Music Month. Boston Lyric Opera’s (in collaboration with Hibernian Hall) contemporary operetta “The Wanderer’s Tethering” was suggested and highly lauded. According to WBUR, “The Wanderer’s Tethering” dives into the experiences of people with both African and Black American roots. Additionally, the operetta fuses spoken word (by Boston Poet Laureate Porsha Olayiwola) and music (by composer Mason Bynes), blended with Negro spirituals and Igbo folkloric music.
