On Monday, October 3rd, 2022, My City at Peace for Parcel P3, a team led by The HYM Investment Group, won a key endorsement in its bid to develop a city-owned parcel in Roxbury. According to a Boston Planning and Development Agency official, HYM’s only competitor withdrew from the bid late last week, securing My City at Peace’s spot for the proprietorship of the site.
Despite the ever-changing ownership of an eight-acre, long-vacant site, last year, the BPDA sought fresh proposals regarding the inhabited location. Although many contenders rose to the call-for-action, HYM’s bid now has a strong likelihood of becoming the sole victor. The BPDA is expected to soon put the HYM proposal before its board for approval, possibly before year’s end.
My City at Peace is led by Rev. Jeffery Brown, a pastor at Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury. My City at Peace was founded in 2015 with the goal of minimizing the racial-wealth gap through affordable housing. HYM’s proposal with My City at Peace includes about 620,000 square feet of life sciences space across two buildings, compared with 180,000 square feet in other competitors’ bids. Additionally, HYM is seeking to build 184 residential condo units at P3, triple the number proposed by Tishman Speyer and the Ruggles group.
