“The relationship between inadequate housing and poor health is well established,” shares Gabrielle Redford, Managing Editor of AAMC News. On April 20th, 2023, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) highlighted Boston Medical Center’s (BMC) partnerships with local community organizations across the Massachusetts area to address economic and financial disparities. AAMC shares that BMC has been serving overlooked and susceptible communities since the mid-1980s, specifically, they have “invested more than $6.5 million in affordable housing initiatives,” collaborating with Boston Housing Authority, Cambridge Housing Authority, Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation, and MPDC, to name a few.
