In the Bay State Banner: Mobile mural marks MPDC 55th anniversary

As part of their 55th anniversary celebration, Madison Park Development Corporation has organized a mobile mural in Nubian Square, created by local artists and a cohort of six youth participants. The mural, “A Love Letter to Roxbury,” celebrates the neighborhood’s history and MPDC’s commitment to the community.

PRESS RELEASE: HIBERNIAN HALL PROUDLY SHOWCASING LOCAL PLAYWRIGHTS TONIGHT & APPRECIATES MASS CULTURAL COUNCIL’S SUPPORT

Hibernian Hall at Madison Park Development Corporation received a grant of $2,500 from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, through its Cultural Investment Portfolio Projects Program. The grant recognizes that Madison Park Development Corporation provides significant public value through its programs and services. This particular grant was awarded in support of Hibernian Hall’s 2nd Annual Play Writing LAB (or HHTC2) for aspiring playwrights, led by playwright Jecenia Figueroa, a Puerto Rican playwright, poet, and author born in Boston.

In BU Today: To Do Today: Roxbury International Film Festival

The Roxbury International Film Festival is the largest film festival in New England dedicated to and celebrating films by, for, and about people of color. This summer marks its 22nd year and features more than 80 films, ranging from documentaries to horror to coming-of-age stories to student films. Filmmakers from around the globe will compete for numerous certificates and the festival’s top documentary prize, the Henry Hampton Award, named for the late Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker best known for his acclaimed PBS series on the Civil Rights Movement, Eyes on the Prize.
