MPDC is proud to join with community organizations from across the city to support the Community Preservation Act. This proposal will allow Boston to create affordable homes, better parks and playgrounds, preserve our historic neighborhood buildings, and create jobs. Funds will be raised through a small surcharge on local property tax bills and matched by a statewide trust fund. The average homeowner in Boston would pay just $24 a year.
The Community Preservation Act could raise an estimated $20 million that includes matching state funds. With these funds, Boston will be able to make much-needed investments in affordable homes for working families and seniors, provide our kids a place to unplug and enjoy nature, and create new, good-paying jobs in construction and rehabilitation.
