About Dr. Ingrid Tucker
Dr. Ingrid Tucker is the Deputy Director at Madison Park Development Corporation (MPDC) in Roxbury, Massachusetts. She joined MPDC in July 2021 after serving 30 years in education. Dr. Tucker is responsible for leading the Programs at Madison Park. In addition to the programs, she works closely with a dynamic team from The Dewitt Center, Hibernian Hall, and Program Directors who lead the way for youth and residents in and beyond Roxbury.
Before joining MPDC, Dr. Tucker was the Head of Cambridge Montessori School in Cambridge (CMS), Massachusetts. She began her tenure as Head of School at CMS in July 2011. She is a passionate educator with an extensive education history serving students from toddlers through postgraduate (PG). Prior to joining the Cambridge Montessori community, Dr. Tucker served as President of Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center (MCAEC) in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Mother Caroline is a tuition-free middle school for low-income girls in Boston. During her Presidency, Mother Caroline raised the most funds in the school’s history. Before leading MCAEC for seven years, Dr. Tucker was the former Middle School Director and Assistant Head of School at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She was Director of Admissions at the Atrium School for two years before joining Beaver Country Day School.
Her experience in Independent Schools began in 1993 at The Cambridge School of Weston, where she served as Dean of Multicultural Affairs, taught history, and worked as an Admissions Associate. Dr. Tucker spent six years training new teachers for the Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE) at the Beginning Teachers Institute in Little Compton, Rhode Island. She also trained public and private school teachers on Assessment, Classroom Management, and School Culture for the New England School Development Council (NESDEC). She also worked with public schools in Boston, Easton, Belchertown, and Westford, Massachusetts.
Dr. Tucker currently serves on several boards. She is the Board Chair for The Center of Women in Politics and Public Policy (CPPP) at UMass Boston, she is on the Board for the Greater Boston Food Bank, she serves on The Catholic Schools Foundation Board, St. John Paul Catholic School in Dorchester, Schooling for Hope, and she is a member of the Cardinal’s Advisory Board. She has also served on the Board of Trustees at AISNE for nine years and as Treasurer for three years. She was a member of the AISNE Membership Team for four years (Accreditation). Dr. Tucker was also a board member for the Montessori Schools of Massachusetts, the Cambridge School of Weston, the Board of Trustees at Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall School in Waltham, Dedham Country Day School, Boston Evening and Day Academy, Marynundo School for Girls in Rwanda, and was the former Board Chair for Fellowship Christian Church in Boston.
Dr. Tucker and her husband, Phillip, are the co-founders and Pastors of Awaken Christian Church. She is a native of Boston and is a die-hard New England sports fan. She enjoys traveling, writing, and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Tucker has a longtime commitment to education and is passionate about providing equitable access to education in socio-economically disadvantaged communities. She is committed to helping schools create environments that maximize the potential of all students. Dr. Tucker has consulted many schools and non-profits in leadership, governance, mediation, and strategic planning.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University. During her senior year in college, she was an exchange student at Spelman College, a life-changing experience. She received a Master of Public Administration from Clark Atlanta University and a Doctorate in Education from Boston College. Dr. Tucker and her husband are the proud parents of four adult children, three daughters and one son, all of whom attended Independent Schools in New England. She and her husband reside in Milton, Massachusetts. |
