MassHousing has closed on a total of $49.3 million in affordable housing financing to affiliates of Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) and Madison Park Development Corporation, to support the ongoing first phase of the Whittier Choice Neighborhoods Initiative. This financing advanced the phased demolition and redevelopment of the Boston Housing Authority’s 200-unit Whittier Street Apartments in Roxbury and new construction of 76-unit Madison Melnea apartments in Madison Park Village.

This new mixed-income residential community will contain a mix of affordable housing units with a preference for current Whittier Street residents, workforce housing units, and market-rate housing. This project is slated for completion in spring 2019.
