Join The Red Velvet Steppers at The Dewitt Center!

The Red Velvet Steppers dance group focuses exclusively on Chicago Stepping, an African American partner dance that originated in Chicago during the 1970s. This style evolved from the swing dance movement, drawing influences from the bop, Lindy Hop, and jitterbug. The group’s mission is to expand knowledge of African American dance traditions and foster community fellowship through dance and music. 

When: Wednesdays from 6:00 pm — 8:00 pm

About EVkids: The mission of EVkids is to empower underserved Boston youth with the skills and confidence needed to realize their potential. EVkids helps low-income, academically vulnerable children and teens (grades 4-12) succeed in school and life by systematically strengthening core academic skills, organizational habits, and other life skills through 1-on-1 academic mentoring, college readiness, and support while in college and summer camp. Students are matched with a volunteer college tutor and meet once a week.

Age Range: Grades 4 – 12

When: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Where: The Dewitt Center (122 Dewitt Dr, Boston, MA 02120)
